As a small pet owner, I feel gypped.
Next time you are at a pet store take a look around. Probably at least 3/4 of the store is devoted to dogs and cats. Then go look at the small animal and birds sections. Yeah. Not a lot to chose from.
Even online dogs and cats win out with all the toys, treats and even subscription boxes. Why should dogs and cats have all the fun?
Luckily enterprising pet parents have stepped in to fill the void when it comes to subscription boxes. Our parrots, ferrets, and other small pets don’t have to miss out.
I did some digging and found there are quite a few subscription boxes for our other furry, feathered or finned friends to get excited about.
Who doesn’t love to get packages in the mail? And if it’s a surprise, it’s even better! With subscription boxes, we get all that AND we get to spoil our pets. Sounds perfect.
Subscription Boxes For Pets
Each service will differ, but you can usually count on receiving several items per box that may include treats, toys, or supplements. Monthly subscriptions are the most common with some services offering more or less frequency or the option to buy a single box. Many offer International shipping, but I recommend getting a quote first. It can be expensive!

I’d read about the box for rats from Ann Staub but it’s surprising how many other boxes are out there for small pets. I’ll bet there are boxes for horses and big pets too. We’ll have to remember this since I keep axing for a pet.

I would’ve never thought of looking into this! Years ago, I had a rabbit and it seemed difficult to find things he’d enjoy – you go to any pet store and there are aisles and aisles of stuff for dogs and cats … but not much for other small animals beyond the basics.
The pet store stuff is very disappointing. It’s nice to have an alternative!
I had no idea that there are subscription boxes for so many types of animals! I don’t have any birds anymore, but if I did, I would definitely get a bird box for them. My birds loved their toys and treats.
