STAYbowl Review- Keep Your Guinea Pig’s in the Bowl

Updated on August 2, 2020 By Dawn

It’s dinnertime. You fill your guinea pig’s bowl with pellets and go to get their veggies only to return and find some piggy thought it would be fun to dump the bowl over. Their fun is your frustration. You need the STAYbowl™  Tip-Proof Bowl.

Dumped food means wasted money.

Dumped food means you don’t know how much food your piggie ate so you might be overfeeding when you refill the bowl.

Dumped food means more clean-up in the cage.

That frustration is what led one family to seek a solution. After adopting 2 piggies from a rescue and dealing with the results of the fun their piggies had flipping their bowl over, daughter and Dad set out to come up with a product that would keep the food in the bowl and the idea for patent-pending STAYbowl™ was born.  It became a reality and began selling in November 2015. Its popularity has been increasing both in and outside the US as more guinea pig parents learn about it.

About the STAYbowl™

Made from one piece of food-grade colored polypropylene, the sky blue colored STAYbowl™ has a 1/4 cup capacity, enough for 2 guinea pigs’ daily meal. The magical part that keeps it from dumping is the design. It has an apron that goes around the whole bowl at the base. Its edge lays flat on the floor of the cage making it hard for a guinea pig to grab and flip over. Since the piggy has to stand on the apron to eat, their weight keeps the bowl from tipping over if they try to lift the bowl portion.

My piggies, Brava, Eurwheeka, Diva, Cavalina, Buford and Cletus, all took turns trying out the STAYbowl™. Food bowl flipping is an occasional issue here, especially with the boys. In the 4 weeks we’ve been using it, while it has been moved around their cages(they are constantly redecorating), but not once did it flip over. With no edges for them to easily find(the apron’s edge stays hidden under the aspen shavings), they haven’t even tried to chew on it.

The STAYbowl™ Tip-Proof bowl worked perfectly.

STAYbowl™ Review Wrap-up

+Made of food-grade polypropylene. This means no worries about dangerous chemicals leaching into the food or a coating flaking off after much use.

+Easy to clean. Guinea pigs can be messy so it’s great that STAYbowl™ is dishwasher safe.

+No more wasted money. When you feed your piggies the best food possible, it’s hard not to cringe when you see it on the floor of their cage. No tipping means no more dollars on the floor.

+No worries about overfeeding or underfeeding. When food is dumped our piggies might not be able to eat their food(not that we want them to eat off the dirty floor) so they don’t get enough food. Or it can be hard to know how much they ate so we usually refill it to the top. They could be getting more than they need. With 1/4 cup size bowl, the STAYbowl™ helps makes sure they get the right amount

+The small bowl capacity means there is a lot of room for our piggies to dig through the food and toss it out.

+It can be used for other small animals, not just guinea pigs. And they are considering adding larger sizes for rabbits plus bowls for veggie feeding.

–If you have more than 2 piggies in a cage, you will need multiple bowls. I’m sure your piggies won’t mind.

Get your STAYbowl on Amazon! Find it in multiple colors and 2 sizes.

The 1/4 cup size STAYbowl is perfect for 1 to 2 guinea pigs.
