I love when I can splurge on my cats and buy things like interactive toys, track toys, and cat scratchers. The money I spent seems so worth it when I see the fun they have. You would think the expensive toys would be the faves around my house, but nope. The favorite toys are the cheap cat toys. The ones I get on the spur of the moment. The ones I get just because I want to buy my kitties something.
This makes me happy, not just because it’s easier on my wallet, but because I can buy more to make sure there are plenty of toys to go around and replacements are available. And this is important because being able to play is necessary for your cat to have a happy and healthy life.
So what are some of the favorite inexpensive cat toys around my house?
Here are the 5 best cheap cat toys that my cats recommend:

Fun Tube Cat Toys
I sat and watched my cat, Raucous, play with one of these for over 10 minutes. They don’t look like much, but the lightweight, flexible mesh material appeals to cats. He would pick it up, take it into their one cat cubby, and bat it around with his paw until he batted it out one of the small openings in the corner. Then he’d go pick it up and start all over again. He was having a blast!
And they fly through the air awesomely! I love to take them, squeeze the ends together between my finger and my thumb and then —t-w-i-n-g— shoot it across the room for them to chase.

Foam Ball Cat Toys
There is one cheap cat toy that has been a staple in our house for over 20 years, these foam cat balls.
Being the size of a golf ball means these are perfect for chasing and carrying.
Being foam means you can throw them without worrying about breaking something and no sore feet when you accidentally step on one. And they bounce so they add some excitement to the chase.
I always try to keep some on hand for when the ones they were playing with disappear to where ever cat toys disappear to.
You’ll want to get your cat a pack or two on Amazon.
Spring Cat Toys
Sometimes I think I know best when it comes to picking cat toys. And sometimes I am wrong. I was wrong about these plastic Spring Cat Toys.
I always bypassed them when I was in the mood to spoil my kitties. They were plastic springs.
How much fun could they be? Really.
So I keep buying various and assorted toy mice, balls, and other chasey type toys. Most of them garnered very little interest from the whiskered crowd.
Then I saw our Instagram friend Minnie the Munchkin playing with one. Well, if Minnie thought they were fun, then maybe my crew would like them too.
I bought a pack and, well, I was wrong. The kittens LOVE them. They bat them around. They carry them all over so they can bat them around somewhere else. They even play with each other batting them around.
They’ve turned out to be a favorite toy around here.

Cat Dancer Teaser Toy
How about a toy that lets you channel your inner rhythmic gymnast?
At least that’s who I feel like when I get out the cat teaser toy and start playing with the cats. There is just something about moving that teaser around that has me thinking about gold medals.
The cats could care less about medals. When the cat teaser is out, all they care about is the teaser.
They care about it so much I have to hide it in between play sessions otherwise the cats find it and pull it out to play with. Or at least they try to play with it. They can’t quite get the wrist action you need to make it move.

Cat Laser Pointer Toy
Behold!
The ultimate cheap cat toy.
All I have to do is open the drawer where I keep the laser cat toy and cats appear from out of nowhere. The red dot is THAT powerful.
While they are running around trying to catch the elusive red dot, I can sit back enjoy all the fun.
The cats get exercise and I get to relax and enjoy watching them play. Everyone wins!

As you can see, filling your cat’s toy box just doesn’t have to be expensive. Add a few or all of these cheap cat toys, maybe make some of your own cat toys and your cat will be absolutely thrilled!
I had no idea these toys were so economical! his list is awesome! THANK YOU! I know Ellie and Bear would love the cat dancer …
