Gardening is one of my loves and I try to plant it not just for my enjoyment but for the birds and butterflies too. A few years ago I planted some milkweed and waited for some Monarch butterfly to find it the perfect spot to lay her eggs. I waited and waited and waited…nothing. About 2 years ago another species of milkweed must have hitched a ride on a plant I got from a friend and set up house in another part of my yard. Nothing the first year, but last year as I was doing some fall clean-up I found a caterpillar. Woohoo! Unfortunately, he didn’t make it, but I had hope that if a butterfly found my milkweed once, another would find it again.
And 1 did this year. I found 13 caterpillars and right now have 3 butterflies and 9 chrysalides(1 caterpillar didn’t make it). If all goes well this crew will be part of the Super Generation of Monarchs that migrate and overwinter in Mexico, then in the Spring start the journey back laying eggs for the first generation of 2017 Monarchs. Nature is amazing!
And so are the posts that joined of our last Pet Blogger Showcase. It’s always hard to pick just 3 to feature, but you can go back and check all the amazing posts along with the ones linked up this week.
Who would ever think vomit was beautiful? A dog parent, that’s who. Beth from Travels with Barley is all of us who’ve been there when our dogs get into something and that something finds its way traveling through their GI tract. then we wait anxiously for it to make an appearance again.
I’m no stranger to emergency evacuations. The most recent was in 2011 when Tropical Storm Lee dumped rain on the East Coast. Having an assortment of animals means it can be a stressful experience. That’s why being prepared is important. Even if you don’t live in an area prone to flooding, tornadoes or earthquakes doesn’t mean a man-made event can occur so the tips from about storm preparedness on Animal Bliss can be a help for every pet parent.
We are weekend warriors here. I work during the week so we try to fit a lot of activity in on the weekend. We probably aren’t in tip top condition which could make us more prone to injuries during our fun. Learn about some ways to make reduce your dog’s risk of injury from Debono Moves.
