I grew a loofah!!! Yes, the thing you scrub yourself with in the shower.
Did you know you they are a vegetable?
I always thought they came from the sea, but somehere I learned that they are actually a squash and you can grow them. Once I heard that I had to try.
I tried growing them for 5 years with no luck. I came close 2 years ago, but they require a longer growing season than we have here in PA and we’d get to September and it would get too cold and wet for them. Last year I took off. I needed a break.
But this year, I bought new seed and with the weather being absolutely beautiful(apparently loofah weather), I have about 10 of them that I should be able to harvest in the new few weeks. I harvested my first yesterday and felt so proud.
What is my plan with all these loofah?
I’ve been growing them for my birds. I’ll use them to make bird toys through the year. Lucky birds!
While I’m admiring my loofah be sure to check out my featured post picks from our last Linky Party.
In my dogs’ younger days I used to be more active in dog sports. Though I really think it was a sport my dogs and I would like, we never got into agility. So it’s cool to read about collies enjoying it on All Things Collies.
I’ve reached my maximum number of cats but I’m sure you could use another feline family member. Maybe you’d like to give handsome Eli who is being featured on Animal Shelter Volunteer a forever home.
Phoebe from 15 And Meowing is calling out her mom on some things. I’d hate to hear about what my crew would have to say about me if they got control of my blog.
