So how is 2017 going for you so far?
I was hoping/planning for a nice easy January with plenty of time to work on stuff on Pet Faves.
Ha! You know what they say. Or at least what John Lennon said.
Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.
Two weeks ago my African Grey, Casey, got sick. A trip to the vet with my birds involves driving an hour and half to get to the avian vet, but it is so worth it because she spends time with you, explains things and really really really likes birds. After an exam and bloodwork, we left with some meds. Casey started looking better and his appetite improved. Then last Saturday, he went downhill. We made another trip down to the vet on Monday. It looked grim. It got even grimmer over the next 2 days and I thought I was going to have to make a decision I didn’t expect to be making so soon after adopting Casey this past August.
But Casey is a tough old bird. He survived an infection when he was younger that destroyed his nose and it looks like (finger crossed) we are making our way through this crisis. Yesterday I came home from work and went to check on him right away. I took his cover off and he quickly quipped “go to work”. Sweeter words have never been spoken. 🙂
We still have a way to go. He has aspiration pneumonia to get over along with the initial infection. He needs to get eating on his own(I’m force feeding him). Needs to gain some weight. Needs to gain some strength back.
And I need to “go to work” because I have vet bills to pay. 🙂
But not before I share my featured posts picks for this week’s Party!
There is one thing that could guarantee a feature on my blog. BACON. Nellie from Nellie on the Edge along with pals, Kali and Shoko
knows how to bribe a host shares a bit about her day leaving you with a little advice we could all use. And there is bacon.
Wonder where some of the cat breeds come from? The Cuddlewumps Cat Chronicles gives us the lowdown on different breeds such as the Egyptian Mau. Pet Pop quiz- what does Mau mean in ancient Egyptian?
Is Reggie the cat just showing his appreciation at being rescued from the cold, dark street or is he trying to do his cat mom in? You decide (and maybe offer some advice if you have some.)
